You have to send your queries to someone. For the vast majority of users, a vetted provider with a strong privacy policy is a good safe default. If you have a better option or a network you trust, lucky you! You can use them instead, and enjoy more good choices.

I'm telling you that DoH solves a real problem that real users, including me, face everyday. I'm also telling you that if you're one of the incredibly lucky few who don't need it, you can disable it. We already know the impact of the current default: widespread snooping.

I'm happy that you have a wonderful ISP, only travel to hotels with trustworthy administrators and only drink coffee at cafes with good privacy policies. Not everyone can make those choices, and the defaults should protect them.
