Seems like the dns loggers are getting worried. Their arguments make zero sense, if they own the endpoints they can just disable it. If they don't own them, but they're certain they add value, then users will opt-in. If neither of those are true, then quit your snooping.
I mean products that monitor endpoints by snooping on DNS queries, for a variety of reasons. If you own the endpoint and don't like it, for any reason whatsoever, you can change it. If you don't own it, the owner will opt-in to trusting their network instead.
If you're wrong, then I suppose they won't change the default. I guess we'll see what people decide. I know what I'll be doing on my laptop, and it won't be letting the admin of the free wifi at the gas station log my queries 
I'm confused, where are you losing choice? You want to trust the network administrator for some reason, so you just trust them. If you don't want to trust them, now you have the option to not trust them. It seems like you've gained a choice, no?
