Ah, so you're argument is that if I join "McDonald's Free WiFi", I am explicitly stating that I trust McDonalds, and opting-in to be monitored by them. I think that's just plain not true for the *vast* majority of users. I don't even trust my ISP, let alone Starbucks

I get it, you don't understand why Cloudflare can be trusted more than "Pete's Cafe Guest WiFi". I just think very very very few people agree with you.

It's a hard concept to one of us. If you believe using free hotel wifi is "informed consent" to monitor all activity, then fine, but very very few other people believe that.

I keep jumping on it because normal users encounter that situation regularly. I think using wifi should be safe by default, without requiring reviewing privacy policies and making trust decisions.
