More password manager bugs out today and more due out soon. I'm not going to look at more, the whole industry is crazy, you're on your own.

Hah, it turns out the majority of the crazy is concentrated around one particular vendor. I will definitely not look at them again, I don't even want to say their name. 😬

Are you able to share your password management solution and/or vendor of choice?

KeePass and KeePassX are both good choices. If you really must use an online one, at least LastPass are responsive to researchers and have a competent security team, I would use them.

You seriously consider LastPass competent? While they are responsive, they seem remarkably bad at producing secure software. As in: they fix the exact issue you report them, without checking for similar scenarios or adjusting their development process. Attack surface is massive.

I consider them competent, I've reported some pretty complex issues and found they handle them well. Attack surface is definitely massive, I always recommend KeePass or just use a book if that's too complicated.

When suggesting someone use LastPass you should also mention that the URL field is not encrypted and by default it reports logins. Also that there was a "bug" where even if you turned off login reports it would still report to LastPass. Because this make people steer clear of it.

Also note that LastPass, 1Password, and Keeper's security rely on their servers. Basically they either have an RCE on the client (ignoring the conscious use of their web clients) or a downgrade attack to an unsalted fast hash of the password.

I found out the API gave me the ability to query my AD and see what tier of last pass each user in my environment had registered with corporate addresses on Day 2 of my POC ... I think it was fixed about day 5. I find that responsive.. it wasn't a perfect fix but better.

There is a plugin for Keepass that let you sync between hosts or cloud, look at Keepass-Sync: https://keepass.info/plugins.html#keepasssync … Or from the app: https://keepass.info/help/v2/sync.html …

Do you have any recommendations for iOS app for sync locally (never cloud) for KeePassX? What are your thoughts about passwordstore + passforios combination?
