InfoSec is ~$127B industry, yet there’s no price tags on any vendor website. For some reason it’s easier to find out what a private plane costs than a ‘next-gen’ security product. Oh yah, and let’s not forget the lack of warranties.

I'll admit to this notion tweeking my interest also. What are the issues with product warranties?

Warranties promise more than a product can deliver. As a child I had a bike with a lock that came with insurance in case the bike got stolen (FD: I was young. I never looked up the details). That's the kind of 'promise' I like.

Products mitigate rather than solve problems. Mitigation is extremely hard to measure and definitely not something you can guarantee. I would support products being sold together with cyber insurance, as an explicit admission that they're not perfect.

Hmm, "it's really hard to measure our benefit" is not very convincing. You could use the same argument against warranties on healing crystals and voodoo curses, no?

More like, what does it have to do with the initial discussion above?
