If you are shipping a http rpc server on localhost and you're not (at the very least) whitelisting Origin, then you're almost certainly exposing your users to some form of vulnerability.

I don't think I've seen any convincing example for why NPAPI needs a replacement. Protocol handlers seem good enough to me, and I don't know if there is a better solution here for UX without sacrificing security?
