dude, it is a core component of major Linux distributions like Arch Linux if you have xorg installed - that isn't a small number of users. There is also the cross-pollination of BSD telnet code re-use in commercial product offerings (like embedded systems).

It is a pretty small number, but just having something installed doesn't make you a user. You have rsh installed, are you an rsh user?

I confirmed, my distro (
@nixos_org) is using inetutils: nixpkgs.telnet (inetutils-1.9.4) Perhaps I should be looking towards migrating the telnet expression from inetutils to netkit instead. What would be useful would be a list of distros vs default telnet client. -
Secondarily - my reference to 'exploit' is in the case of future abuse of the heap corruption bug illustrated above or related. Nothing existing that I currently know about.
