Then don't give your average Joe user on your corporate network the ability to run/install non-approved software. It's not like application whitelisting solution don't already exist, even ones built into Windows itself which do a far better job of mitigating this threat than AV.

No. I've actually reverse engineered and analyzed most major antivirus engines, and it is significantly superior. In my opinion, anyone who tells you different hasn't looked or is trying to sell you something. Doesn't mean a whole lot though, it's like being the fastest unicycle.
