OK, cool. I do agree locking down a device makes a huge difference. (See also: iOS.) I just don't know if that scales to the whole population.

Throwing my hat into this dumpster fire. AV is akin to the seat belt on a modern car, and supplemented by ABS, side impact airbags, radar assist, etc. AV by itself is a first line of defense now. On the Windows side, Defender alone is better than no AV. BTW, I don't work for MS.

First of all, it's not true. Antivirus does not make it safe to click on anything - I think we both agree on that.

AV is equivalent to seat belts and air bags in a car. It doesn't make it safe to crash your car but might just save you from disaster if you do crash
