I know everyone gets down with Hackers/Sneakers/War Games, and that’s fine, but y’all need to diversify a smidge: - The Conversation - 3 Days of the Condor - Assassins - The Net - The Matrix - Clear and Present Danger - Lawnmower Man

Interesting. You gotta like the fact he's a reverse engineer, how many movies have a protagonist with that job title? I wasn't a fan of the casting and John Woo action focus, felt it squandered the opportunities. Personally I'm a fan of the Matrix as a hacker movie.

I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of John Woo introducing car pursuit in it. Also the short novel is really faster than the movie, and it's so much better (but I get the feeling)

I prefer 'hacker' scenes in films(lets me add 'Highlander' due to its identity theft scene to the list). The first five minutes of Paycheck are like one of the better answers for 'What is reverse engineering?'. Also a better PKD short story adaptation than most.
