I had the same problem a few months ago — went with a wp-> Jekyll converter and hosted it on github pages instead
same. I wouldn't call the transition "easy", but I made it work, manually fixed unicode errors introduced by the translation, hacked some fixes into a built-in theme, bumped my head a few times while learning Jekyll, and am now pretty happy.
