    Watched West of the Tracks: a 10-hour documentary about the fall of the Tiexi industrial district in China. It documents the lives of the workers in the closing factories, the kids trying to carve out a normal childhood amidst the poverty, families trying to survive.

    It's called "The Act of Seeing With One's Own Eyes" and is literally 30 minutes of raw observation of autopsies, with absolutely no soundtrack, often filmed in extreme close-up. It certainly challenged the way I think about bodies, life, death. I'll also never watch it again.

    Film was great. If you ever find yourself thinking "damn, I could really go for a poetic documentary about Armenian shepherds in the 70s right about now" then is is the one I'd recommend.
