@tapbot_paul Swift is about 5-10x slower. Client is insisting on it.
Serious ?. For developers that jumped head long into Swift how much time have you saved coding vs lost fighting with tools, learning, bugs?

@tapbot_paul In an 8 hour day SourceKitService crashes for me about 300-400 times. Which means no autocomplete or type info in Xcode. - View other replies

@tapbot_paul So you’re constantly referencing docs in Dash/Google/etc to dig up the types you need to figure out how to use/cast them. -
@tapbot_paul There are plenty of compiler bugs too that just make no sense. I've lost at least a full day just trying to work around them. - Show more

@tapbot_paul I went back to ObjC/C for anything even slightly complex, just to be productive. Swift is a significant time sink right now -

If u jump into any new language isn't that always the case? True even for new APIs sometimes on any platform

@RealZenfar@tapbot_paul of course. But with most, every IDE update doesn't also break all your code with dumb copy/pasteable fixes

@tapbot_paul it radically simplified some of the more ‘algorithmy’ code in bits of the apps, but ~every build error is indecipherable -

@tapbot_paul slower for everyone I know. But people are adopting to be ahead when it's no longer a choice, not to save effort now. -
