I wanted to wish Eid Mubarak, Shabbat Shalom, and happy #FossilFriday to friends and colleagues at #AABA2023! Currently "dissertating" and reflecting on the good community here. ๐Ÿฅฐ Want to chat disability and access in paleo? DM or find me! (I often use a white cane)
A computer sits on a small table along with a purple metal water bottle and a folded up white cane for visibility aid.

Ask students about the impact of their field paleontology experiences. Capturing what they write opens up so many wonderful reflections on the importance of outdoor learning and paleontology. Their writing told us way more (in this case) than handing out agree-disagree surveys.

Happy to share my first journal article! This labor of love asks - why does field science matter? What's the impact of field paleontology? If you ask high schoolers, they tell you a LOT - and they come away with care for fossils, lands, & each other.

This is important - yes votes signal two things, for me: 1. a life that can afford, financially and/or materially, to wait for โ€œmoreโ€ rather than face direct discrimination and crisis ongoing; or 2. fear of UC retaliation, or strike exhaustion. But again see point #1.

I think the hard truth that the VoteNo camp needs to realize is that individuals didnโ€™t vote yes because of misinformation, or yes vote propaganda. Our yes vote colleagues voted yes because they live in a world fundamentally differently to (cont)

Super interesting article, and highlights some of the major hypocrisy in Italian anti-immigrant sentiment, considering how much of Italian food is either colonial or at the very least, foreign in origin / cross-cultural.

In high school, my physics teacher asked me to figure out how many seconds were in a year. I solved it by multiplying 525,600 by 60 to which my teacher responded โ€œwhy is that something you know off the top of your head?โ€

Very saddened by the removal of Access Needs from the UAW 2865 contract, after literal hours of disabled people sharing the pain of the broken UC system. โŒMedical diagnoses still required for accommodation โŒCOVID protections ignored #FairUCNow #Disabled #DisabilityRights

Sad to report that in a 10-9 vote UAW 2865 sacrificed disabled workers forโ€ฆ 0 concessions from UC. They killed the article behind closed doors.
