As is the case in most Indian households, whenever someone at home drops a book or our foot accidentally touches it, we pray-apologize to the book by touching it to our forehead. The kiddo has picked this up early. It is truly amazing how much kids learn by our actions.

Daily ridership only on the two new Mumbai Metro lines has crossed 1.4 lakh per day. The commute scenario in the city will be completely different once all lines are up and running. Mumbaikars are finally getting the public transport infrastructure boost they needed a decade ago.

I hope the Aditya Chopra part is not a gimmick. Would be a total hit if the man decides to speak about movies!

This is horrible, to say the least. If we are really serious about decarbonising transport and making it cleaner, less noisy, more equitable and more space efficient, we need to reduce this gap between a cyclist and a car occupant. Now!

Once I divide the number of deaths by the corresponding distance, I get the likelihood of dying per km for the three road users. A cyclist is "40 times more likely" to die compared to a car occupant, and 2 times more likely than a motorcycle rider, for the same kms travelled.

The age-old wisdom that my grandad gave his children & my parents gave us with regards to highway driving in India still holds true - Avoid driving post sunset, never overtake from the left, take a halt every 2-3 hrs, do not drive above 80 & never stop in the middle of the road.

Transportation is too important to be left to engineers. This is what I believe is a major problem with how transport research and education are conducted in 🇮🇳 Transport faculty members are based in mid-20th century models of Civil Engg. departments. They dominate the field.
