1/n Motor cortex controls the arm by sending neural activity patterns to the spinal cord and brainstem. But how are these patterns generated? We study this question in our new paper in , with J-Z Guo, J Cohen, M Mischiati, , et al.

Does the brain actively delete memories with less long-term importance, or simply let them wither away? New research leaves room for both options.

Would you get into a self-driving car trained only in Mountain View? Probably not. Then we better not tolerate medical algorithms trained w/ small populations or only certain race/ethnicities!

Spike sorters don't really agree with each other! When we used SpikeInterface to run and compare 6 modern spike sorters (with default parameters) on one of 's Neuropixels recording samples, they all agree on only 21 out of 1547 total units found!! 1.36%! 2/5

Know anyone who can fully function on little sleep? An -funded research project has discovered a second gene mutation linked to 'natural short sleepers' who feel totally rested on an average of 6.25 hours of sleep. Most people need about 8.
