    It's not that "bias is bad". It's that certain biases that continue or strengthen existing kinds of marginalization are bad. We actually want certain biases. Or we should want them. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

    Biasing software against marginalized groups is a big problem. Biasing it towards the needs of marginalized groups or against those in power can be extremely important.

    "Remove all bias" is the rephrasing of "treat everyone the same to be fair". But that's bogus. People are not the same, have different needs and positions in society.

    The debate on "AI" and algorithms often focuses on bias. Especially the liberally minded people argue to "remove bias as much as possible if not completely". I think that is in a way anti-political.
