The ability to believe two contradictory things at the same time as if they are both perfectly complimentary. Also the ability to boldly believe insane things as if they are totally real. Humans are masters at self delusion.

You might be surprised at what contradictory beliefs exist in your mind when you go spelunking around in your own head. I was certainly surprised by what I found hiding there.

Could you share an example?
I’ll try. The tension between contradictions drives much. I love and fear open borders. I’m a soulmate and a reprobate. Money can’t buy happiness, but I’m happier when I’m rich. Life is futile, every choice has consequences, serving others is divine (my fav 3-way contradiction).
I won't share personal ones but common conflicting beliefs are things like beauty isn't everything but I want a beautiful partner, it's dangerous to fly but not to drive, or people believe they're tolerant when they're really only tolerant of people who share similar values.
Take a hard look and you'll see how much of society and people's minds are constructed around conflicting beliefs patched together to make them fit.
