I wrote about how Michael Thompson and other inmates in a prison organized a special meal to honor George Floyd and protest racism and police brutality

How weird to be a reporter in this moment where not only outrageous abuses are being committed AND slight reform has led to more transparency and reach the conclusion "The problem is antifa!!!!!"

Wow a dumb internet rabbit-hole led me to The Iliad. Unexpected!

It's clear who the problematic individual officers are and the most problematic precincts. To me defund means drop those cops, who are basically criminals with badges. It doesn't mean "have 911 calls from poor neighborhoods go to voicemail and let people shoot each other."

When people snark about "defunding police" as the fantasy of white suburbanite anarchists, reminder: 10 percent of NYPD have more than 6 CCRB complaints against them, while some have around 30. The same officers have multiple lawsuits against them.

Welp, like many women, whenever I do radio interviews I sound like a hamster on crack who says "like" 1,000 times. Don't @ me this is just true.

Why is this true 😂😂😂. I'd add, "Woman patronizingly tells others to go into the real world while hunched over computer like a troll refreshing notifications in bad light."

I'm literally 6 months late to this BUT here my friend who's having a baby at the end of the month and is contractually bound to name it Tzvetan after me, shares some thoughts on giving birth in pandemic and also has a good Cuomo dig

It's great they covered it. But if the NYT had published before I did I would have given them credit and a link back out of respect for the reporter and also terror of being accused of plagiarism. We used to fire people over this, even in crappy lefty blogosphere of mid aughts

The reason I'm pettily taking to Twitter is because in the past, I've reached out to reporters asking for credit and they never respond. The reporter probly got the story independently, but I find it hard to believe she wouldn't google the woman's name.

I'm old enough to remember when if someone beat you to a story you cited their work with a link, even if you reported the story independently—otherwise it's plagiarism lol.

Almost as if the best part of Obamacare was Medicaid expansion, not the "We're going to rip young healthy people off with overpriced, shitty plans and bury them in reams of horrifying paper work"

I love this pic. My great-grandmother Yona's dress looks like the universe. And I'm sticking my tongue out like a jack-ass.

Hmm sorry if this is cheesy, but I feel the need to say that my good friend taught me how to write about horror but also have a (mostly dark but not always dark) sense of humor. Thanks dude! ditto

Anytime I publish something, an (always male) Twitter Sleuth is like "AHA! BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CRIMES? WHAT AREN'T YOU TELL US!?" Guys, I make a living doing this. If I willfully misrepresent facts to forward my Pro-Crime agenda, people will stop giving me money to write things.
