    60. The ampersand is the most fun to design when you're making a font. You can inject so much character into it, and there are so many ways to do it. Maybe ampy shouldn't go back to having letter status like it used to, but it's my fave character.

    I was today years old when I learned that an ampersand (&) is a ligature for the word 'et'

    59. Oh — that’s for sans serif typefaces. For serifs, lower-case L needs a way to not look like a 1. My 3yo asked, “Why is there a 1 in that word?” L has all kinds of impostor issues. But I did get to tell her about the Royal typewriter I grew up with, that didn’t have a 1.

    58. All typefaces need to be immediately updated so that lower-case L has a little curl at the bottom. That will distinguish it from upper-case I. Which may or may not need obligatory bars at top and bottom.

    57. Politically, spot on! Grammatically, it’s a bit more complicated. is correct if the subject/object rule is what you’re going for. But many people don’t have a sense for s&o in multi-clause sentences. After a prep, use WHOM. That works.

    I will vote for WHOEVER secures the Democratic Party nomination. I will vote for WHOMEVER the Democratic Party nominates.

    I wrote a script to help determine which songs are the most played of the year. These two songs turned up side by side during runtime, and the pairing turned out unexpectedly philosophical. 🅳
