more behind-the-scenes info from GDRI http://gdri.smspower.org/wiki/index.php/Blog:Mikame_and_Me … the producer/owner mentioned would be Yumenosuke someone with ideas and passion also being a gigantic asshole who drives talented staff away? in the games industry??? never!pic.twitter.com/TLGoACTWOZ

Shunichi Mikame, the interviewed composer, apparently worked on the Japanese version of Scheherazade and was fired shortly before it came out. his music was replaced in the later (and massively-overhauled) US version.pic.twitter.com/kcAI8pZo5g

a bit from the wiki which i think is real - Culture Brain's various locations https://w.atwiki.jp/culturebrainwiki/pages/21.html … they started from this building in the 80s which they kept as a warehouse all the way until 2016 when it was demolished for apartmentspic.twitter.com/amKRvbExWy

in the 90s they had a 7 storey marble office building?!? and then apparently lost it when the financial bubble burst the office location shifted around a bit after that, most famously ending up above a bento shop, now it's just based out of a private residencepic.twitter.com/5OM5d88VfQ

since this thread is getting traction again i just wanna tack on some important details i missed - the company was founded as Nihon Game and changed to Culture Brain in 1987 - Nihon Game Sales was an affiliate company, this became Micro Academy and finally Culture Brain Excel

their arcade games were copyrighted to "Taiyo System", I can't find any definite info on this but Japanese sources seem to suggest this was just a name used by Nihon Game and not another company

more info on their Donkey Kong involvement - apparently they helped with PCB productionhttps://twitter.com/lenculeentongs/status/1300804124162887682 …

this makes sense given DK's history tbh - the initial run was produced by Ikegami & then Nintendo made 80k more without their permission (see http://gdri.smspower.org/wiki/index.php/Company:Ikegami_Tsushinki …) presumably N didn't have the ability to make the additional PCBs alone so asked other contacts in the arcade biz
