It's a fair point candidly. Sports fans are some of the angriest, most joyless people I've ever known. I am still a big sports fan, but, in this very limited aspect of my life, I only allow myself the joyful moments. The sport losses, in the long run, simply don't matter.

I got started liking college football b/c it was a way to bond with my dad. Then I got swept up as a student at a big football school. It's just drama with arcane rules & leather balls & matching colors. Not different than watching reality TV and rooting for who gets booted off.

I always use sports as an example. I have zero interest in it, but if you told me our future rested on knowing stats, team colors, etc. I would study up fast. I don't get people who sit out elections.
