flash supported bitmap blitting, it was super fast - for flash, that is. you could make pixel games in as3, too.

if i remember correctly, there was a copypixels command in the bitmapdata class that was the fastest way to draw sprites/tiles, but flixel made it so much easier to use. vanilla flash needed some weird matrix manipulation i never really understood to get sprite rotations going.

ah, very cool! i used to be better at remembering who created what things, but i'm super out of touch. i know you from clickteam stuff way back then, tho! it was good times~ the first flixel game i ever played was fathom, then i wanted to know how all that stuff works in flash.

I definitely remember some pixel-y bitmap-y games in AS3 back in the day, but I was super young. There was definitely some rudimentary terrain destruction stuff going on
