Yes, but it goes deeper than that. Minecraft doesn't think players should exist beyond the border, so it limits many interactions players can do, stuff like placing blocks and more. We've managed to replicate a lot of these actions manually - I'm very happy with how close we got

technically players shouldn't even be able to cleanly pass through the border lol. The actual work that went into making borders work as well as they do now is sublime

Interesting. I can relate cuz in editing sometimes, you aren't allowed to render a slow motion smoothly if it isn't recorded in high fps. We need to use a plugin after effects has to somewhat smoothen causing a PITA cuz we need to do stuff frame by frame sometimes :(
