I really enjoyed our tournament and thought it went well, but can we please have a proper MINECON next year? I miss 10,000s of Minecraft players all meeting up to share their passion IRL

More what I was getting at was, it's a "one or the other" affair. Mojang simply does not want that level of production, so it won't happen. Dunno what else to tell ya. :P

If we're being completely fair, every other gaming convention people can name to me are much broader than a single game. Minecon is, to my knowledge, the ONLY convention based entirely on a single product.

Honestly siding with Mojang on this one. They always wanted the event to feel informal and "close". As the fanbase grew, that became harder and harder to do without angering huge numbers of people.
