Isn't the problem with "funding racists?" If it was claimed, then it was making money for the claimant. Making the complain invalid anyway.

You may think that, but the claim that the journalist lied would be false if the video was running ads. Good thing to remove it for now.

I mean the original claim that the article made which was that people were profiting from racism/companies funded racism, which is false.

nah, it's not about who the money goes to. the point is "many brands don't want ads running on 'inappropriate' content" which makes sense
