      yes, in america theres clearly a massive disparity (like 30K!?) between white male and other staff writers even at places like waypoint until they unionised. eic couldn't unionize and was making far less than other eics. freelance values would still be benefical

      But like, copywriting goes beyond games. If you like writing in general, I'd always say: look at creative agencies. They're more diverse workplaces, the work is often more varied albeit maybe not as "fun", and it pays better.

      I started in an agency on 32k in 2015. Then 35k until 2017. Then I went freelance and made 65k in 2018 and 55k in 2019 (w/ 3 months off). Now I'm salaried again on 50k. And I write about all kinds of different shit INCLUDING games.

      50k salaried seems great! the trick seems to be to work for a pub that actually makes money, not games pubs that know they can squeeze passionate people
