I'm horrified that @MuseumofLondon want to cleanse history by removing this statue. It would be like removing the photos of Nazis from @AuschwitzMuseum. If we make our history nice and comfortable, where is the warning to beware our own causes, endeavours and loves?
There's not a statue of Hitler outside the Auachwitz museum because statues don't teach history, they celebrate it. Are people struggling to remember who Hitler is because there aren't any statues of him?
To clarify: when I ask "how do you know?" what I mean is how do you know it's "because statues don't teach history, they celebrate it"?
