If you want to be a more inclusive workplace, don't force remote workers (or job candidates) to be on webcam. Some people (often trans people) feel severe anxiety about having to put their face on cam. If it's not critical to your work, just use voice!

Face/Body language is a small benefit, but outweighed by the negatives of causing people anxiety. No cam also has a 'curb cut' effect where it benefits everyone - even if you don't have anxiety, if you're having an awful day + feel bad, you aren't forced to broadcast it

I'd honestly go so far as to say that it's negligent to force any trans person to put their face on a camera, especially during global lockdown where access to services is limited. Imagine experiencing severe dysphoria from your face, then having to look at it on a zoom call

I agree. When services like electrolysis and laser hair removal clinics are closed, it becomes worse for some trans people as appearance is annoyingly such a big thing.

Mmm. I think a lot of cis people don't realise the impact lockdown has on people trying to transition. NHS GIC wait times in the UK are probably gonna be delayed like +1 year at least. The least we can do is not cause trans people (+ others) further discomfort

Yep, speaking to people referred to one GIC that normally has a 'good' wait time at only 2 years, it's now up to 3 years. I think most people outside of this issue, or ones commenting from a position lacking knowledge, just have no idea about things like this.
