I hope when lockdown is over people still wear masks when they're sick but need to go outside. It limits the spread of disease, it's normalised in many Asian countries and it should be normal here too

I really hope people aren’t wearing masks when they are sick and go out. The point is that they should stay home if they are sick enough to need a mask. Masks are great for protecting others when you are part of something essential in a risk environment/situation.
If you're ill there are still many reasons you might have to leave the house. Doctor's appointment, pharmacy, picking up food, kids at school, or even just you need to go to work because you're not allowed to be sick. If you're ill + need to leave the house, better the mask

staying home is obviously the best solution, but not practical in current society, especially during normal non-COVID times where your government isn't letting you take time off work

Most of that can be mitigated by better social service. But we all don’t live in socialist countries I guess.
