I miss brunch cocktails. I miss walking through the park at night to my favourite cash only takeout Chinese joint. I miss deciding on a whim to grab a coffee/beer with a friend. I miss choosing to "be sensible" and to stay in for once, because you can always go out next week
I miss taking the afternoon off and going to watch a film, any film, the cinema almost dead. I miss sitting down at my favourite restaurant and putting my phone away so I'm less likely to check it. I miss people, the endless bustle of people just going about their lives
I miss texting the group chat to let them know my train has been delayed, again! I miss commiting to holidays and booking tickets months in advance, not knowing what mood I'll be in when departure time arrives. I miss the joy of saying hello and the anxiety of saying goodbye
I miss not having to think or worry about going to the shop, the doctor, the dentist, the hairdresser. I miss sitting on the edge of the harbour, legs dangling over water, watching boats drift back and forth as we open another cool can of cider. I miss the sun, the wind, the rain
I miss planning my life in weeks, not multiples of 3 months. I miss being excited about the things I was just about to do, I swear, as soon as I can. I miss FOMO. I miss the 2020 I had planned in my head, with better inputs and happier outputs
I'm thankful I'm mostly healthy and safe. I'm thankful I have a good job I can do from home. I'm thankful my friends and family are safe, and healthy. I'm thankful for mass entertainment, group chats, discord sesh, deliveries and conveniences. I'm thankful this will one day end
I miss being able to hug and kiss the people I love and because of this, today I only see them through a screen. I really miss the simplest things Perhaps this will serve us to value more everything we have and that with the hectic daily routine we do not value. Don't U think So?
