I "liked" Outer Worlds. A great deal, but it doesn't feel quite finished. Its very linear in its story, It doesnt really encourage exploration, NPCs remain static and only exist to serve the player protagonist. I felt the story was a little safe as well. I.E "capitalism bad".

e.g there was supposed to be a whole third planet, whose content got shifted to the asteroid. SAM was a replacement for a more fully-fledged voiced companion that got cut. They cut systems, story content etc - there was supposed to be an open world hub on the first world etc

ALSO it should go without saying, but to be crystal clear on Twitter Dot Com I'm glad they cut content rather than crunching - they can always add DLC and the game did really well without it so maybe it wasn't even needed

Yeah. New Vegas is still a game I replay every year since. I need to heavily mod the game to get it run mind you. Outer Worlds is a game I will return to if there is something new for me to do.

God, I need to replay New Vegas it's been years. If you haven't played, Disco Elysium scratched the narrative itch a lot (very different mechanics though)

Considering how many times Obsidian have been forced to cut corners or crunch to get something out the door I'm ok if they kept this project narrowly focused. I enjoyed it enough that I'd welcome a sequel or look forward to what new thing they do
