Not sure that’s strictly true. Unless government orders the banning of mass gatherings etc then most events won’t be insured to cancel.
If you're wondering why some games events have cancelled while others are going ahead the answer is simple: Events that cancelled have good insurance that offsets costs Events that haven't have bad insurance/ are waiting to hear from their providers It's $$$ not Public Health

Spoke with people privately who are waiting to hear back from providers on how much (if anything) will be covered if they cancel. Other (US) events cancelled immediately cuz they had some coverage, but insurance might have been affected by state / federal decisions
