The NYT did this with their other weird national poll release a few months ago. If it’s the same concept, They’re using the 2016 electorate and overweighting older, white, non-college educated voters.
Yeah idk the methodology but in the UK it's pretty common to hold these sorts of polls, you just have to mentally adjust because the actual campaign is vastly different from the conditions of today. It's just an indicator - and a potentially bad one if the methodology is poor
