Never ceases to amaze me how many gamers and even some gamedevs will defend crunch and burnout. It's pathetic bootlicking. If your team needs to work unpaid overtime, or overtime for more than like 1 weekend (systemic crunch) you have failed as a leader

One thing I'm eternally grateful for is my current employer's staunch resistance to needless crunch/overtime/burnout. If anything, I get encouraged to use downtime and PTO for wellness, and not overdo it. We all do. It's a very welcome change in this business.

yep, we're trying to be a minimal crunch, zero burnout studio. literally emergencies only ("the servers are on fire!" "there's a critical game-breaking bug!" etc)
