E3 is in the worst shape it's ever been -- last year it was half-empty, and that was before they doxed thousands of attending journalists -- so Sony skipping again would make total sense. I'd expect them to announce their own big PS5 event(s) instead

Last year was my first E3. The Convention Center was packed, lines for big games were impossibly long. For those that attend regularly; was it "half empty"?

Yes. There were empty seats at every nearby restaurant, the halls were less crowded than they've ever been, and anyone who had been to multiple E3s was talking about how quiet it felt. You can read more about it here:https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1139212389302194176 …

Wait what?... E3 2019 had 66k people. I was there and it was far from "empty". Odd narrative choice, smh.pic.twitter.com/uRAJ7tBhsU

Which show(s) are free? E3 and the surrounding area is extremely expensive which adds to the issue.

Gamescom is paid. It's really the prime example of what a games convention can be - absolutely packed, with a good split between consumer and business focused stuff
