I feel like the whole “It’s popular because it’s popular” really, reeeeaaally doesn’t apply to this game

I think it became popular because the moral fantasy of being an uncaring, minor-havoc wreaking Goose really resonates with a lot of people lol. It’s like the ultimate evolution of slapstick comedy lol

the only time people ever question whether a fun game was actually fun or not is when non-gamers enjoy the game. i think people also have a hard time understanding the value of comedy in a game. we would've had the same discussion about jazzpunk if it was popular with non-gamers

I don't think so, my opinion isn't influenced by non-gamers enjoying something. I love when games have broad appeal and I love comedy games - I really enjoyed What the Golf this year. Just didn't love Goose game, not sure it will stick with me like other games I played this year

I want to cause minor mischief but in a way that doesn't make me feel bad, and goose game is exactly that

It’s like GTA except nobody dies and are instead just inconvenienced.

yeah I know what you mean but also what is "good" and can it be separated from cultural context and should it etc

The idea was relatable to the mainstream and memeworthy but the actual game wasn't perfect, but nothing a sequel wouldn't improve upon.

I found the controls fiddly as hell
