There's nothing wrong with taking inspiration from places you respect - I do it all the time. But blatant copying makes me very sad, especially when there's no significant improvement on the original. Trust your team to do something original, inspired, beautiful, it will pay off!
Shoutout to all the designers, programmers, artists etc who aspire to use their talent and originality but are forced by bosses / managers to "just copy [popular thing]". I feel ya, don't worry, it gets better
