As a young man I did write some spec scripts for Spider-Man and the pilot & shout outline for a series that was "What if Constantine worked as a cop?" that I'm glad got declined because fucking hell what a complete misunderstanding of what makes that character good
I wrote a pilot when I was 17 and submitted it to BBC Writer's Room, where 1 script wins + gets filmed. I got through stage 1 + into the shortlist where you get actual feedback from a TV script reader, where it was rejected for being "too meta" + "all characters sound the same"

I did once have a spec script rejected by Alibi for being "too formulaic" which I think is a bit rich for a channel devoted to episodic cop shows
