On a personal note re: Release date. This was very difficult information for the team to break We fully expected to be able to ship something in 2019, but it wasn't to be - part of waiting so long to relay that information was us doing what we could to make 2019 happen.

Rather than put the team face first with the barrel of a 2020 promise we've decided that we're much more comfortable to say our expectation is 2021. Hytale is a 5-10+ year project that doesn't end with the release of the game. It's a marathon not a sprint.

We've said throughout it will be ready when its ready - and we do mean that - our ultimate goal of the project is that it's not just for us. It's for players and content creators to create what flights of fancy they can conjure up - and that takes time.

Our origin story is that of a minecraft server but we're evolving fast. For context on scope we've built everything in the project from the ground up. The engine - rendering, 3D modelling tools, the UI tech. Going down the unity / unreal engine route for a block based game just

wasn't feasible for us. There have been many attempts to make blockgames in those engines, and I think trying to fit a square peg in a round hole (forgive the pun) just isn't something that results in the 'comfy feel' that block games NEED to have. So we chose the harder route.
