Having white people trash Indian food is extremely triggering as an Indian who has been told that I smell weird, that my food smells weird and that Indians shit on the street which is why everything we are smells bad. My whole life.

I work in tech -- my building is probably 80% Indian. I actually look forward to lunch time because of the smells in the kitchen from ppl microwaving things. I'd love to try Indian food, but I'm one of those ppl who can't tolerate spicy heat, so I don't know what's "safe" to try.

Lots of Indian dishes are not "very hot", they are just flavourful with classic "indian-tasting" spices/mixes like garam masala. Try daal with some roti (simple flat bread), anything with potato/aloo gobi, chana masala, samosas for a quick snack - not hot. Ask your coworkers!
