I discovered the darker, less nice side of the gaming industry while I was in my first year of a game development bachelors degree. If it wasn't for our own little community of Roblox developers and our chance to re-set the standards for our generation, I wouldn't have graduated.
In 2012 I would have killed to work on certain games I loved growing up. 7 years on, I've learned many of those companies suck to work at If you get to choose, pick jobs where you do fulfilling work in fun environments alongside amazing people - you'll be happier, healthier

Damn - glad you made it through! There are pockets of greatness across the industry, it's great to find solidarity with the people around you when you can. Hopefully the Roblox space stays cool and gets even better

Also, don't be discouraged if you can't land jobs you try to apply for, in fact use it as a motive to grow your skills and be a better developer! Fun fact, Elon Musk tried to apply for jobs when he first started but no one hired him, but now hes one of the richest in the world!
