im not a tech security guy so maybe this is nothing but isn't it fucked up that right after they introduce the chip on cards to make them more secure they also introduce cards that you can just tap to pay?

In both cases it’s reading a signal. In the case of the signal from the tap the tapped device doesn’t store as much from the card as from the chip.

Which makes it harder for someone to use your card with the info they hypothetically steal from the tapped device repository.

Tap is also capped at a fixed amount, in the UK I think it's £30. Anything over that amount required inputting pin
