What’s the most grimmest / depressing thing that ever happened to you at work? Mine: my first week as an (unpaid) intern in a Dublin agency, my boss learned it was my birthday. He tried to get the office to sing to me. About 8 people flatly murmured ‘Happy bir...’ then stopped.
worth adding that the company policy was added because a bunch of people tried to refund using the same / similar excuses, so people are just generally rubbish all round
