if you were talking to someone who had never played an old 8-bit game, and their baseline opinion is ‘those games are too technically and/or creatively rudimentary to be enjoyed in 2019’, what are the games you would get them to play to change their mind?
You've already gotten a ton of great answers, but Monkey Island (or your preferred adventure game) and this might not count but I don't think there's been a game since Nethack which does what it does as well as it does it. Incredible depth
