If you do pick up the game, it recommends you start with Cao Cao for 'easy' difficulty but I found that super hard! I recommend choosing Gongsun Zan, he's great in combat and starts in the north bordering sea and mountains making it easy to defend + understand where to go next

This game is so good! I'm doing a Cao Cao playthrough where his wife was killed by the Kingdom of Song, followed by him dying of old age a season later. His son, Cao Pi, deposed Song through force and declared himself Emperor in vengeance.
nice! I love Cao Cao's ability but I didn't understand it properly so my first run ended abruptly when the guy to my left vassalised everyone around me and I.... "politely refused"
