That's because I'm a video games journalist. I tweet about games. Books and movies can also influence people's lives. Why would a book/movie be able to do that but a game couldn't in your eyes? That's daft.

If more games told great stories I’d be more on board with the argument, naturally there are corner cases in both genres but the more emotionally charged, character driven STORIES. On any format, is a win for me.

Film and games aren’t an either-or choice though. I’m a film fan, and I’m a video games fan. I get different experiences from both. I’d argue the interactivity of the latter makes powerful games that much more powerful, but I’m a film lover too.
