There's something great about the collective consciousness, I love new music when I know everyone's talking about it, I love new shows when I know I can jump on any forum and read people's thoughts I think I might care as much about people's reactions as I do the original medium

I feel like I really missed out on the experience of Battlestar Galactica, The Sopranos and The Wire because I watched them years later after the hype was gone looking forward to GoT final season just because I want to see everyone going mad over it again

yeah, I do this too but I feel more voyeuristic and detached when the show isn't airing

True, there's nothing as good as being part of the live discussions and memes following an episode

I just rewatched Breaking Bad, and it was interesting because I kept being reminded of memes that you'd only know from when it was airing. the whole "science bitch", dipping sticks, walt jr's obsession with breakfast, jesus christ marie it's a fucking mineral, the comics etc.

50% of game of thrones for me is trying to figure out what's going to happen next and reading theories, can't help but feel like that would be extremely diminished if you just binged it after hte fact

Yeah definitely. For more serious shows having a full week of downtime between episodes really helps too, I used to watch some Mad Men and BB eps twice for more details. Almost like I want a site where you can sign up to watch as a group, like a perpetually changing reading club
