On the one hand, I feel I've really improved my game programming skills over the past 6+ months and I learn new concepts every day, it's good + fun On the other hand, it means when I look at old code I feel terrible and immediately want to rewrite it all

As someone who has been programming professionally for almost 15 years, this is basically how I feel every day :P I sometimes judge past me pretty harshly but then I remembered past me managed to pull this stuff off with half the knowledge I have now, which is kinda impressive
Funny how it never stops. But I should have known that because it's the same in most disciplines - reading old writing, looking at old art, listening to old music etc etc etc. It's incredible we ever ship anything lmao

It _is_ incredible, so when you look back and cringe at how terrible something you did was, you have to give yourself credit for putting it out there and then building off/learning from it. Past me was an idiot, but he was brave and he believed in himself. That means something.
