The politicians in my country are absolute idiots. There are grown adults who actually think 'no deal' would be fine. They have a pre-kindergarten understanding of economics. How are such people MPs? its insane.

They should have to pass a test in basic economics, and show some actual expertise in some area. I'd be keen on them also publishing their tax returns whilst MPs and for a decade afterwards.
I absolutely think MPs should be forced to disclose tax returns before, during + after being members of parliament - too many elected officials profiting from conflicts. Other testing i'm iffy on, would need lots of protections to prevent a bad GOV using it to limit accessibility
